get the look: dotted denim.

If you glance around any clothing store right now you will likely see a plethora of patterned pants. 80s revival anyone? Personally, I am not quite sold on the floral or tribal options just yet, however, I will admit I’m a fan of the polka-dotted denim look! Here I’ve tracked down six choices in a variety of price ranges. How much are you willing to spend on the trend?

splurgeShopbop – $190 // Madewell – $190

spendJ.Crew - $98 // Gap – $69.95

saveTarget – $24.99 // Forever21 – $22.80

To get the biggest bang for your buck there is always the option to simply transform a pair of pants you already own with this tutorial by A Pretty Penny! Now that’s what I’m talking about - reduce, reuse, recycle!

What are your thoughts on the dotted denim look and printed pants trend – are you willing to give it a go or will you be sticking with your solid slacks this season?

springing ahead.

spring fashion 2013

The holidays are over and I am more than ready to say so long to winter and welcome spring with a warm embrace (literally!). Here are some of the items I can’t wait to wear upon operation snow melt:

1 – Denim shirt dress. I love the versatility (and simplicity) of chambray — this particular piece can be worn as-is, or paired with a cardigan and a colorful belt.

2 – Messenger bag. Because everyone needs a pretty pastel bag for spring…

3 – Skimmers. Talk about ankle eye candy! These skimmers are the perfect mix between capris and skinny jeans, plus the variety of colors and patterns allow for endless outfit options!

4 - Tortoise cat eye sunglasses. One word: timeless. (Or perhaps “purrrfect.” Too far? I thought so.)

5 – Essie nail polish in “Where’s my chauffeur?”  A little bottle that packs a big punch of bright & bold.

6 – Floral bib-like necklace. A fun statement piece to dress up any outfit, such as item #1.

7 – Striped tee. Stripes, stripes, stripes… I can’t get enough! For a fun combo, I’d pair this number with some floral skimmers.

8 - Polka dot pleated shorts. Similar to stripes, I am a sucker for all things patterned and these shorts are no exception.

9 – Pastel lace-up flats. Just plain cute. (Also available in black and teal)

What items are you excited to sport come spring?

spring is in the air… err, on the runway.

Okay, so it’s not exactly spring quite yet. There are still about 6 weeks left until the season is “officially” upon us, but after seeing all the spring runway trends, I’m already longing to rid my closet of cable knits and dark shades in favor of  brights, bolds and pastels!
Here are some spring lines I’m loving:

J.crew

Madewell

Jason Wu for Target (now available!)

Essie

What trends are you looking forward to for spring?

monday musing: colored pants.

What started out as a top trend this past fall will no doubt carry over into the spring… colored pants! Such an easy yet unexpected way to add a pop of color to your wardrobe. I say bring on the brights!

zara lookbook faves.

If you haven’t seen Zara’s November lookbook yet, check it out here!

While I would never pay full price for these items, it provides me with inspiration to replicate similar looks for fractions of the retail price. Below are my favorites! Which are yours?!

fall fashion favorites.

It’s hard to believe next week will already be November and snowfall is just around the corner (ugh… don’t remind you, right?!) But with that being said, I thought I’d highlight some of my favorite fashions from the fall season. A lot of these will more than likely carry over into winter-wear as well, but either way, here’s my fall faves:

oversized cable knits.

plaid, layering and slouchy collars.

colored tights.

blazers and wool fabrics.

bowtie blouses.

lace-up wedge booties paired with showing socks.

What were some of your favorite trends of the season?

Psst… all images were found via Pinterest. You can check out my page here.

the brooch is back!

I think the majority of us associate brooches as an out-of-date “old lady” type of an accessory, right? Well I’ve got news for you – the brooch is back my friends! Talk about a fun and simple way to spruce up a blazer or blouse, or even a purse! And what’s even better – you can come across them for pretty reasonable prices at antique shops… or for free in your grandma’s jewelry box.

Still not keen on the idea of sporting a brooch? Another great accessory alternative to the brooch is a faux floral pin, like here:

See how Elaine from ‘Clothed Much’ sports her floral pin perfectly here, or how Julia from ‘Gal Meets Glam’ does here.

Flower pins also happen to be a super simple (and cheap) DIY project which I will make sure to feature within the next week, so stay tuned!

Have a great weekend :)

fall fashion preview.

It’s hard to believe August is already upon us… before you know it, fall will be here! And being that fall is my favorite season (both fashion and weather-wise), I’m sure not complaining!

Here’s a peek at some of my favorite fall looks from J.Crew’s Fall 2011 Look Book:

I’m lovin’ the new mustard color trend, tailored blazers, leopard print accessories, paperbag skirts, and color-blocking. You will more than likely be seeing me replicating a few of these looks come autumn… but hopefully for fractions less than the J.Crew purchase price! :)

What are some fall fashions you’re looking forward to?
